I fell in to accountancy by accident over 15 years ago and have loved it ever since, there’s something therapeutic about numbers and balancing the books!
My career began helping the accounts lady in a SME business that still used manual accounting books and ledgers, my role was to help put these on to spreadsheets to update the way the accounts processes were completed. I was told I had a ‘knack’ for numbers and so after some debating I became a fully-fledged accounts assistant and started studying for my AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians).
Over the years I have worked for mainly SME companies in a variety of sectors including Catering Equipment, Estate Agents, Builders, Farmers, Entertainment, Hospitality and Wine Merchants. I have also worked for other Accounting Practices so have a fairly broad
background that I feel helps me to integrate and understand most business sectors. My passion lies with start-up businesses and being able to help them to achieve their goals and watch them thrive when given the best support. This doesn’t mean that there is nothing
left for established firms, the busier I am the happier I am.
Along with working in accounting and finance I have continued my studies with ATT (Association of Taxation Technicians) and ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants). I also completed a degree with Oxford Brookes University in Applied Accounting and am hoping to be accepted on the MBA program in the next few years.

After obtaining a First class BSc Degree in Accountancy in my 20’s I started working in accounting practice and sat my ACCA exams (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.) I took a short career break in my 30’s to start a family but started to receive requests from small businesses for help with their bookkeeping.
It became apparent that many people who go into business because they are very good at what they do can quickly become swamped by the financial administration that goes along with it. It was great to be able to use my skill to help people by removing the tasks that were bogging them down and leaving their time free to concentrate on what they do best.
I spent the next 10 years providing freelance services to accounting practices as well as directly to small businesses in a wide variety of industries, from events management to environmental technologies. The development of cloud-based accounting software has been invaluable in providing me the ability to juggle a happy and rewarding work-life balance.
I met Melanie a few year ago and we hit if off straight away, it’s been an absolute pleasure being part of her team, and I’m excited to be involved in a company with such a positive and supportive business ethos. It’s encouraging to see her client’s business grow from strength to strength as well as her own company growth and expansion.

After leaving sixth form with three distinction stars in Law, Business and Media Studies, I was eager to get into an admin-based role and when I come across this job I knew it was the ideal job for me! I joined Dunnell Accounting in November 2019 and have loved it ever since; it has been lovely to see the company grow taking on new members and becoming a full office.
As well as working full time in the office, I decided to complete courses which benefit my career. Recently I have completed an Anti-Money Laundering course, Xero Certified user course and an Admin & Secretarial course. These courses really helped me understand the key parts of working in an office-based role.

I joined Dunnell Accounting in September 2020 as a trainee bookkeeper with a want to progress further in the accounting & finance sector. This is my first role in the sector, and I am constantly learning with the full support of the Dunnell Accounting team.
I have been in various roles through my career, from restaurant management to mental health support so my experience is varied, which I feel helps me to understand the various clients.
Being a mum of two beautiful children I am used to getting things done in a timely manner, with a little bit of chaos thrown in.

After leaving school and wanting to be a Miss Moneypenny, I took my first steps into the finance world by taking a role as an Accounts Clerk. That was a very long time ago and I have worked in finance ever since.
I come to Dunnell Accounting from a broad financial background, having worked in listed PLCs and SMEs. I am also the newest member of the team.
It is good to be a part of a growing business and I am looking forward to working with the Company’s diverse client base.
